One SIM can use the 3G technology while the other is on 2G (texting, data transmissions) - but both are ACTIVELY running. You can turn OFF either one IF you want to use just the OTHER one.Being sold already UNLOCKED, I was able to use my both my EUROPEAN SIM as well as my ASIAN SIM. While international roaming text is CHEAPER than international calling for my instant communication in the field (as well as VOIP, email and the likes where you have to wait 'till they power up and their PC and log-on to their email accounts), I was able to knock down costs for important messages needing urgent responses. I have a mobile business that covers two telephone area codes, and I used to carry two phones. Now I only need one phone for both numbers.An additional reason for getting the new phone was to get an Android phone that I could set up a Square credit card account on. The Square card reader works great. Customers can sign the transaction right on the touch screen, and get a receipt by email. I love it, as this should enhance my business, while simplifying my life.
