This review is from: Shorai LFX18A1-BS12 Extreme Rate Lithium Iron Powersports Battery (Automotive) Was disappointed with the Everstart battery, from Wal Mart, crapping out after 2 years. Saw the ad for these Shorai batteries in a motorcycle magazine. Purchased the better of the two that were recommended for my Suzuki Boulevard. Well, I have had it for 3 days now. Asked my wife if she wanted to take a late autumn ride out to breakfast. The bike started right up. The temp was just above freezing. So far, so good. Guess I'll have to take their word on how it'll outlast my Wal Mart battery. Might have to get one for my 4 wheeler and my tractor. They often sit idle longer than the Suzuki does. These batteries say they endure that abuse better. This review is from: Shorai LFX18A1-BS12 Extreme Rate Lithium Iron Powersports Battery (Automotive) This battery maybe weighs about a couple of pounds; the battery it replaced probably 12-14 lbs. Although I didn't buy this battery for it's light weight, it is a sweet 10+ pounds lighter, and that I like very much. It is also much smaller too. I bought this battery because my motorcycle doesn't get used for months at a time, sometimes for as long as a year or more. I was constantly replacing dead conventional type batteries that went dead from self-discharging and sulfating plates. These batteries supposedly don't suffer from long periods of storage. These really are the way of the future for starting batteries. In my case, this battery, rated at 270 CCA and 18 AMP HRS, was able to easily start my 1983 BMW R80ST that has a twin cylinder 800 CC engine. It cranked it up instantly without hesitation. It is very easy to install, and it comes with enough foam sheet of various thicknesses to adapt it to any size housing. And it starts my RC51 right up, the old lead acid battery was having a hell of a time turning over the high compression V-twin. The included foam padding was easy to apply in order to keep the smaller battery snug in my battery box. I applied to the battery instead of the case in order to make it easier to remove if I ever go back to a standard lead acid battery... doubt I ever will.
